Carbon fiber composite materials for automotive and motorsport
Carbon fibre composite materials are excellent items for the automotive and motorsport industry.
The use of these materials for the automotive and motorsport has significant benefits both for their technical and aesthetical performances such as resistance/weight better performances and environmentally sustainability.
According to recent studies, structural components made by composite materials are 30% lighter when compared to aluminium. This percentage even reaches 70% when compared to stain.
Carbon fibre materials allow on one hand to enhance vehicles performances, and on the other hand they are an alternative way to reduce CO2 emissions on the environment.
Thanks to above-mentioned features, carbon fibre is perfectly suitable to realize exterior components for motorbikes and bicycles. These are the applications where the aesthetics and excellent performances are most important.
Matrix X4-140
From Microtex Composites research comes a new type of matrix which allows to reach outstanding technical and aesthetical performances.
X4-140 is an epoxy “carbon look” resin, one-of-a-kind, when compared to matrices of the same category.
Why X4-140 is so WOW
- maximum transparency
- great surface finishing
- dicy-free which means no white spots and marks when in contact with the mould
- UV-rays good resistance: anti-yellowing properties (photo and thermo degradation resistance)
- Good mechanical properties
- High TG
Prepreg technical features
X4-140 has an outlife of 4 weeks at 21°C and a storage life of 12 months at -18°C.
It is also available in a wide range of reinforced fibres such as carbon, aramidic, glass fibres and special fabrics.
