These materials allow to reach a high level of sustainability thanks to technical natural fabrics used as reinforcements which replace more traditional fibers like carbon and glass.
The prepreg – the second item of the composite material – is epoxy and allows to get a higher fixture of the reinforcement together with the capacity to transfer solicitations to fabric fibers.
In fact, the matrix can be optimized to improve different properties of the material such as tenacity, UV-resistance as well as vibrations reduction.
Currently, in the composite sector there is a huge work to reach a high-level of sustainability by using both natural fabrics and bioresins.
Alternatively, it is possible to combine natural fibers with synthetic technical ones like carbon and glass.
Finally, eco-sustainable composite materials are realized by compression molding, infusion process (RTM and vacuum) and autoclave.
